Auditions now running for a non-gender specific casting of Shakespeare's classic play, Hamlet. That's right. That means you as an actress have the opportunity to play the legendary role of Hamlet and you as an actor can play as their crazed lover Ophelia (or Ophilio?). The best player for the part gets the role! So be ready with a monologue from any Shakespeare show and prepared for cold readings. The show is ready to go up with an dates in mid-June to mid-July.

Auditions are March 23, 24, 29 and 30 by appointment in Geneva. Other audition dates available by request.
Email StorefrontShakespeare@gmail.com to request a time slot. Please bring a headshot and resume to the audition.

I found out something interesting today:the British Library is releasing the first audio guide to how Shakespeare's plays would have sounded originally!
There are people who study what the original pronunciation in Shakespeare's plays would have been (this is something that I find really exciting) and here's the thing - it sounds a lot less like modern British English than it does American or Irish English.
Here are some samples they released on Sound Cloud:
So, what do you think?
Here is a link to it on Amazon if you want more information.

Here are some shots of me with the beautiful Shakespeare statue just outside the Lincoln Park Zoo.

Storefront Shakespeare is turning two years old this month and I have a big announcement for you. Eddie McGrady, whom you may have seen in our Much Ado About Nothing as Don Geon, has accepted the position of co-artistic director!
I will be heading off to graduate school in the fall and I wanted to find someone that I could trust to keep this wonderful company going. Eddie's passion for theater combined with his business skills and his drive to get things done will ensure the continuation and success of this company.
I will still be around, through the magic of the internet I can keep in touch will all of you and share what I am learning in grad school and if I can I'll come back in the summers and direct shows.
Here are some photos from the past two years at Storefront Shakespeare (if you want a sneak peak at Eddie, he's the one on my back in the photo from Much Ado About Nothing's Silly Night).
