It started out with an idea. I was sitting backstage waiting for my cue during a performance of  "The Best Man" at Geneva Underground Playhouse. Light was filtering through the curtain from the stage so that I could see out into the theater but no one could see me. Suddenly, something about the moment caught my imagination and I saw fairies running around, lovers chasing eachother and a forest in the theater. I knew I had to direct "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and that I had to stage it in a non-traditional way. I decided to get rid of he standard house seating, in fact, get rid of the whole separation of audience and actors. My generation has grown up with video games and computers, our phones are touch screens, and really, more computer than phone. We are used to everything in our world interacting with us, why should theater be any different?
My idea stuck in my head  and I starting planning. I brought my friend Gabrielle Tufano on-board, I have worked with Gabby on previous shows and she has a brilliant artistic mind as well as being a skilled artist. After I told her my idea she helped fine tune it and give it a cohesive visual theme.
Then I saw Jessica Collier's website http://dazzlecostumes.com/ She has done a lot of work making costumes for comic conventions and I thought that this different background and view point would bring an interesting element to the production.
Gabby and I started talking to my long time friend Racole Fisher (who has a background in film and television) about our plans and she was interested in becoming part of the production. The three of us decided to form a  theater company.
Racole takes care of the business end of things and makes sure things get done, I come up with the concepts for shows, and Gabby provides the visual aspects or the "look" of the production.
We decided we wanted to stay away from traditional theater spaces. We wanted to be a mobile company, going from space to space and we knew that these spaces should be easily accessible areas of high foot traffic.  We quickly came to the conclusion that empty storefronts would be the perfect performance spaces.
And so Storefront Shakespeare was born.

We are starting to look at different spaces and hope to have a couple locations For "A Midsummer Night's Dream" soon. I have been working on blocking and am ready to audition actors as soon as I have some place to audition them in.  We get new members of our staff almost every day and calls from real estate agents and landlords interested in learning more about us and our business plan.
